Sliding scale policy and how to use it

I recognize that we live within capitalism and we must earn income to live, so I have had to decide what my rates will be. I also recognize that capitalism is violent and destructive, causing massive deficit for many people, most crucially along racial lines. It's influences make it difficult for some folks to access health services which is why I keep my rates low and offer room for movement. Because capitalism is the root of the wealth disparity in this country, the scale is largely for my Black, Indigenous, and non Black/Indigenous POC clients. If you benefit from white privilege and my regular rate is cost prohibitive, contact me pre-session.
I am open to alternative currency (bartering), please contact me pre-session if this is something you are interested in!

For my Indigenous, Black, and non Black POC friends and clients,  Please let me know what your budget is when booking and we can work to find a comfortable rate. I have some no-cost, 45min appointments available per month, inquire before our session if you are interested. I view this as one way I can contribute to reparative justice.

If you are a friend and client who benefits from white privilege, I have limited low cost appointments, please contact me before our session for availability. Read below if you would like help deciding if the sliding scale is for you!

Consider paying less if you:

• have immigration-related expenses and/or are undocumented
• are an elder with limited financial support
• are a returning citizen who has been denied work due to incarceration history
• are descended from enslaved people
• are Native American/indigenous to this continent
• are supporting children or have other dependents
• have significant debt
• engage in sex work

• are a person who experiences racism directed at you
• have medical expenses not covered by insurance
• have mental health and/or addiction and/or chronic pain issues
• are eligible for public assistance
• are an unpaid community organizer

• experience violence and discrimination due to being trans, gay, intersex
Consider paying more if you:

• own the home you live in
• have investments, retirement accounts, or inherited money
• travel recreationally
• have access to family money and resources in times of need
• work part time by choice
• have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education, gender privilege, racial privilege, class background, etc. Even if you are not currently exercising your earning power, I ask you to recognize this as a choice.

Other things to consider:  Consider paying less on the scale if you feel as though multiple sessions will benefit you. I want to provide a service that is accessible enough financially for folks to receive care and ongoing management instead of a one-time ‘treat’. I believe that bodywork is a necessary and vital way to increase health and mitigate the multitude of damages caused by stress from our toxic environment and society.

Do you feel as though you have extra money to gift massage or a health and herbal consult to someone else who can’t afford it? Let me know and I can help you gift to someone in need.
