Massage
|
Hello, I’m Nasrene (PA LN# MSG012055)! I am a queer, trans, Iranian and white, musician, artist, and educator here in Lenapehoking territory also known as the Philadelphia area. I began formal bodywork training in 2013 at East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland Oregon, learning a variety of techniques and modalities. My areas of skill include deep tissue techniques, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, neuromuscular exercises, Swedish massage, pre-natal and post-natal massage, acute injury recovery, chronic pain management, surgery prep and recovery, anxiety and stress management, etc.
I have supported clients who have PTSD/C-PTSD, birth injuries, congenital issues, are recovering from gender affirming/other surgeries, have chronic illnesses, mobility issues, TMJD, trauma due to sexual and physical violence, and more. My client base are queer, trans and gender diverse folks, artists, tattooers, musicians, bakers, construction workers, servers, bartenders, therapists, bodyworkers, combat sports practitioners, dancers, students, parents, children, grandparents. They come from West Philly in particular, though I serve all of Philadelphia county, Delaware county, New Jersey, and many folks visiting from out of town. I love my clients!!!! I also educate the next generation of massage therapists in subjects such as anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, palpation, deep tissue, Swedish massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, ethics, prenatal massage, hydrotherapy, and my NCBTMB certified continuing education courses on the topic of care for trans and gender diverse clients. Along with massage, I have deeply studied herbal and natural medicine for over 15 years, gaining three certificates in herbal practice. |
TRAUMA INFORMED CARE
As a trans, queer, mixed race person who has a deeply personal relationship to mental health and trauma issues, I strive to provide a comfortable container for clients to relax into. This arena casts a net of protection, and our mutually agreed upon ethics of consent and body sovereignty shape the sessions. In working with communities impacted strongly by ongoing trauma, I create a dynamic with clients of two-way, clear communication. I want to impress that all bodies are deserving of care and healing touch, and recognize that trauma lives in our bodies differently.
I acknowledge and honor the stolen land on which I live and work as stewarded by the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenapi) and Nentego (Nantikoke) original people, past, present, and future.
